The world’s largest watch and clock exhibition that has been the industry’s biggest event for 30 years & mdash; HKTDC Hong Kong Watch & Clock Exhibition will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center from September 7 to 11, 2011. Participation of 700 exhibitors.
According to the latest statistics, Hong Kong is the second largest exporter of watches and clocks in the world; in the first five months of 2011, Hong Kong’s watch exports reached 24.7 billion Hong Kong dollars, a 24% increase over the same period last year. Due to the growing demand in Mainland China, the market is expected to expand in the future. From January to May 2011, watch exports to the Mainland market increased by 27% to HK $ 3.6 billion.
One of the factors driving the watch market is fashion design. According to a field survey conducted at the 2010 Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair, fashion watches are rated as the most popular product category in the industry. In addition to fashion design, the consumer market also attaches great importance to innovation and quality. In the same survey, respondents believed that the strengths of the Hong Kong watch industry were good quality and innovative design. About 80% of the exhibitors believe that the watch and clock exhibition is helpful to promote business, and more than 80% have received orders or are negotiating orders during the exhibition.
The ‘brand gallery’ of the conference is an exhibition area that combines fashion, innovation and brand promotion. The Brand Gallery has been established for more than ten years. In 2011, more than 100 brands participated. Hong Kong’s original brands including Silhouette, Gemtique, o.d.m., TempOris and Zeroe will showcase their original watches; brands such as Cosmopolitan, Edwin, ELLETIME COLLECTIONS and Levi & rsquo; s will show their latest models to the public. The elegantly-designed ‘wine cellar’ in the area is used as a special area for industry exchanges and famous watch tours.
The brand gallery will be open to the public on the last day of the exhibition on September 11. In addition to allowing consumers to see and buy brand-name watches in the coming season in advance, it also provides exhibitors with opportunities to conduct market research based on consumer opinions.
World Brand Piazza is a special area to display the rare and famous watches of the world’s leading watchmakers. Participated this year include audemars piguet, Cartier, Vacheron Constatin, Omega, Piaget, and Breguet. It is expected that there will be more top-name brand exhibitors.
Buyers searching for superb watches will be able to get a satisfying harvest in the ‘Eternal Years’ theme area. The watches exhibited in the ‘Eternal Years’ zone have classic designs and long-lasting beauty.
Exhibitors from Mainland China, South Korea, and Taiwan will set up special halls to showcase their excellent products. Exhibitors from France, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Japan, the United Arab Emirates and other countries are expected to actively participate in the exhibition, creating ‘Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair’ has another successful page in its history.
The 28th Watch Design Competition
This competition has always been the highlight of the watch and clock exhibition. While continuing to train talents for the watch and clock industry, it also provides new designers with exposure opportunities and timely encouragement. The theme of this year’s open group is ‘Classic Reproduction’, and the theme of the student group is ‘Fantasy Group’. Both groups have now received more than 210 designs, and the shortlisted and winning entries will be displayed publicly during the exhibition.
The HKTDC Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair is more than a trading platform. During the exhibition, the conference will hold 10 watch tours, an opening reception, an exchange reception, and several seminars and information conferences. Highlights include the ‘Hong Kong International Watch Forum’ on September 7 and the ‘Asian Watch Conference’ on September 8. The Hong Kong International Watch and Clock Forum will gather senior officials of watch and clock associations around the world to exchange market information and industry trends with each other. At the Asia Watch and Clock Seminar, the conference invited the co-founder and designer of the award-winning design studio ‘new’ of the United States, Mr. Jason Martin to share his insights on creative product design.
