Asian Watch Auction Record Change Owner Tiffany & Patek Philippe Ref. 2499 Watch Wins The Title

On October 2, 2018, Sotheby’s held a precious watch auction in Hong Kong, a third-generation Patek Philippe Ref. 2499 rose gold watch issued by Tiffany for HK $ 23.52 million (equivalent to approximately RMB 2,075) 10,000 yuan) drop hammer transaction, setting a new Asian watch auction record. Earlier, this honor belonged to the Patek Philippe Ref. 2523 World Time watch, taken in November 2017.

 This Patek Philippe Ref. 2499 watch was produced in 1971 and was issued by Tiffany. The rose gold case has a diameter of 37.5 mm and the dial is printed with the words ‘Tiffany & Co’. It is equipped with a cal. 13 ” ‘hand-wound movement, with chronograph and perpetual calendar functions.

 Clients participated in the auction by phone representatives of Sotheby’s Auction Asia office. The auction price easily exceeded the pre-sale estimate (HK $ 12 million to 18 million).
